I'm Christian, more specifically a cradle Catholic - I attend Episcopalean services at college because, being gay, I have some big issues with the Catholic church. And here's all I have to say: the Christians who "ruin lives" (and what I think personally? they only ruin your life if you let them) are simply a small but irritatingly vocal majority.
I'm sorry if I'm interrupting the game you're playing in the comments. But it bothers me when an entire religion - one where, if you're a true believer, you are kind, accepting, and loving to everyone, and trust me, the majority of Christians are like this - is being dumped on. You do not pause to consider different sects of Christianity and their beliefs, you do not appear to have learnt much of anything about the religion itself.
Your take on Puritans: "If people didn't convert, they press, drown, or burn them at the stake."? C'mon, guys. That was hundreds of years ago.
I'm simply spiritual. I'm not religious, I never have been, and I see the problems with the faith I was raised in, so there's no use saying that I'm a Christian trying to "force her thoughts" on your wiki. I'm just pointing out - we're a big faith group, and the vast majority of us are openminded people who just want to live their lives.
Consider that.

Eveningsdawn, Its not like we hate every single religion, and I'm sure I speak for most if not all the members when I say, We hate the ones who force their beliefs on us, weather they be Christian or not.
It doesnt matter what religion someones from, if they're going to be forcing their beliefs on me, I'm not going to tolerate it. I grew up, being forced to go to a Christian church. And finally got out, when my Grams moved. My aunt recently turned to Christianity, and now she's pulling the whole "I want you to go to heaven with me" How the hell am I supposed to go to a place I dont believe exists? I am a firm believer in reincarnation.

Nicely said, Angelic. I think you answered her 'qualms' admirably. I have nothing to add unless she sees fit to continue.
To be honest with the entire Wiki, though, one of the (several) reasons I don't want my own name up there is because the entire Wiki introduction DOES seem to imply a complete stereotype of Christianity and 'puritans', and though I gave my little monologue on the matter to the first homosexual women who attacked us(Straight Ticket Voting ring a bell? Probably not to most of you, through lack of understanding or lack of attention), I honestly don't know if I believe that. What I think is that the issue never really occured to the majority of you until she pointed it out.
What I'm trying to say is that in order to suffer a little less needless abuse, maybe the Wiki should consider changing our(your)introduction. Perhaps just the Owner, or Admin, should write it. Or, if multiple people want to broach the subject, we might could have some sort of competition to see whos intro is more expansive and informational. Just a suggestion..

Angelic, I understand the idea that it's the beliefs being foreced on you that you have a problem with. I have a similar issue - whether it's a fundamentalist or a vegetarian trying to convert me, I react with the same violent pulling back. My ex was of many of your minds, that christianity=EVIL and was constantly trying to force me to leave my church. And I do love my *specific* church - I love to sing, and we do a lot of our praying in song. Problem is, that's one of the only reasons I go to church. I don't really believe.

Dead - I've spent nineteen years as a practicing catholic. I wouldn't bet on knowing more than me.

Xorital - A question. When you were born to 10, was it being forced? Or did you just go, without thinking about it, and then later concluded you were forced? 'Cause that's... pretty commen. When you're a kid, your parents are well within their rights to expose you to their religion. It's what they believe in, and they want you to see that. And you know? If you don't hate the people who drive you crazy, you will actually drive THEM crazy. Because you'll be a better person than they are. Or alternatly, don't engage them.

Tarkis - Please do not define me as a queer Christian. I do not appreciate it. I am gay. And I also happen to be Christian. That doesn't mean I stick those two aspects of my life together. Neither is the first thing that comes to my mind to describe myself.

And to all those "forced" to go to church, try having a talk with your parents about. They might be more understanding than you think. I did it, you can too. Or view it as a time to take an hour out of your day and think, or find peace. Go church-hopping - a friend of mine did this for 2 years until she found somewhere she was comfortable.

Mostly what I want to get across is this: Alright, Christians have done some Bad Shit over the years. Really Bad Shit. But the majority of us really are just people. And another thing. So those who try to convert nonChristians are out of line? Am I right? Thought you'd agree. So what about those who tar all Christians with the same brush, without even thinking about who we are, and are then EXTREMELY vocal about it? Are they out of line?

2006-12-03 [snowwolfsa]: Im sorry, but does this seem to be a repetative issue?... everyone who attacks this wiki is the same, their reason is the same... all addressing the same issue with this wiki.. it really really getting old... if no one else was able to make what they beleaved was a "diffrence"... what makes you think your going to... please try to read the wiki... the ENTIRE wiki, not just the intro... go back to older comments before addressing issues that have already been adressed, you might find your answers before wasteing your time here.. weather you choose to beleave it or not..unlike you, most of the people in this wiki are not as lucky, and cannot talk to their parents about it... they are literaly forced, i am not one them, i do not go to church, but thats of my own chooseing... my parents have never forced religion on my, but however my best friend happens to be in this wiki, an ive known his parents for sevral years.. you cannot just sit down with them an talk to them, they would flip.. if he stays home from church cause hes sick, he has to watch the religous channel on the couch for the time period he would have been in church... so your comment on that is not entirly accurate..

The mere fact that this is a "repetative issue" should let you know that you are not stating your mission clearly. I have no issue with a group that is against people who impose their religion on others. I would join that group. But you're going about it all wrong.

And starnightblade? I tried to look at the wiki and found that, interestingly, it was impossible. This page we're on right now appears to be all there is to it. So maybe I;m missing something, but I;m not seeing it. And I did go back and check the comments. All I found was you shooting down people who gently or not so gently questioned the use of a wiki like this, or brought up points you simply do not want to face. All I saw was intolerance. All I saw was an owner whose mind is shut and deletes members if he simply decides he does not like them.


Bah. My friends range from pagan to wiccan to atheist to agnostic to Buddhist, on through Hindu and into all the sects of Christianity. I have friends who are furries and think they're fairies and who are conservative Catholics, who are straight, who are gay, who are transgender, who are poly. Yet we manage to get along and even talk religion without saying "X religion sucks and wants everyone IN THE WORLD to become just like them or they will DIE". Catch up with the rest of the world, guys.

However, there is something they are good at:Bringing attention to the issue at hand. If the name of the Wiki were "A group of individuals upset by the vocal minority of Christians who feel they're perfectly in the right to solicit and oftentimes force religion on others", well.. That's a dull blade, too. Though it encompasses pretty much everybody who isn't that vocal minority, and we'd get a lot of empathy from them, that's about all we would get.. A name like 'Gods Little Haters' has a tendency to loosen tongues.

When Starnight said look at the Wiki, I'm pretty sure he was referring to Just the history, by the way, though it was a little unclear. This page is the only one with any static information(That I know of.)
As for us 'shooting down people' who 'brought up points' we 'simply do not want to face'.. I don't recall any issue that has ever been brought up not being addressed by at least one member. If you have them, present them.

Concerning intolerance towards opposing religions, well.. I think the 'world' has a ways to go still before acceptance. We're not that far in the Dark Ages.. :)

In regards to your inappreciation of my choice of words(queer Christian).. I don't care. Queer, Homosexual, Dike, whatever.. They're simply words with the same meaning concerning sexual orientation. It's your decision whether you let them offend you, or not.

2006-12-04 [snowwolfsa]: as for the owner deleteing people he does not like.. that is just the way elftown works, ask the mayor... did you not know that your membership to elftown can be revoked... just if he happens to stumble upon a members house an grow to dislike you, a guard told me that a while back when i questioned their methods.. so if thats an issue you have with this wiki, i guess you have the same issue with ALL of elftown, an should complain to the mayor.. although if you do that, i dought we will ever have to deal with you again, cause he tends to dislike anyone who points out flaws in his system... as for shooting people down, i dont recall any of my statements putting anyone down ever in this wiki, all i merly said was it was getting repetative.. so correct me if im wrong, are you, yourself not stereotypeing members of this wiki? because of how some of the others in this wiki act... that alone contradicts your question an anger at this wiki for stereotypeing christians...

Xorital - Of course they are ignorant Christians, specifically Catholics. I live in Ohio for college. We have blow-up Jesuses in people's front yards. Give me some credit. I have noticed, however, that as a general rule they're like hornets or dangerous snakes: if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. Not all of them. But many.

Tarkis - You display an admirable organization and refute my points with skill. *grins* You'd be fun to debate with in person, as you point out my inconsistencies. You've got a point about names. They're quite important. It's just the description of the wiki that gives you all a bit of a bad rap.
I supppose you're right, about the members addressing any issues that are raised. You do that quickly. I suppose it's just the underlying premise that still bothers me.

Hells yeah, the world has a way to go before there's acceptance. Trust me - look at who I am. I'm a small queer female in a world dominated by straight men. But... what I'm saying is that by keeping the description you have is not encouraging acceptance. Acceptance means accepting even the things that you would not neccesarily do. You're a good example, actually - I stuck my head over to your profile and noticed the stance you take on gay marriage. It's okay that homosexuality is not something you're comfortable with - it's that you will still support people's rights to marry that;s important. See? You don't always have to agree with something to let it live.
I took unneccisary irritation - it wasn;t offense - at queer Christian; my apologies. I just don't like being labeled immediatly upon arriving. I didn't come in here because I'm queer, or even really because I;m Christian. It's because the premise bothers me. Also, what is this about 'freedom of speech'? you hack at us about the issues this Wiki has about Christians, calling it a 'stereotype' an all that blah, blah, blah, but the minute one of us comments about how you're doing the same thing, it's 'Freedom of Speech'?. I don't get that at all..

I want you to know what I do is not done because I don't like you, but rather because I see it as my obligation to do so. Yes, alright, I cannot spell that word - I was reasonably sure there were no 'i's but I like 'i's. And failed to remember the real spelling. I tried four times and could not think of another word, so I just went with it. And I got that sense, of antagonzing on purpose - it's something I do myself, a lot, so I know how to diffuse it as well.
(I'd never used or known how to spell dyke before my girlfriend at the time decided it was my new nickname.)
